“Italian Culture through its Language and the Flavours of its Cuisine”

5-DAY PROGRAM

Sunday: Arrival (Milan, Bologna, Modena, Reggio Emilia, Verona). Transfer to the Hotel Canalgrande by private shuttle. Day/night off.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning: from 9.00 to 12.00, Italian language lessons with a focus on basic communicative structures targeted to allow you to socialise in Italian and to better understand Italian culture and the vocabulary of its cuisine. On Thursday morning, a practical lesson of the Italian language is accompanied by a visit to world-renowned attractions at the Enzo Ferrari Museum. Shopping at the historic centre of Modena, visits to the breath-taking Unesco Sites of Modena (Duomo, Torre Ghirlandina, Piazza Grande) and the famous Albinelli Market where the famed starred chef, Massimo Bottura, is often met. At the end of the lessons, you will receive a Certificate of Participation in the Italian language course. Lunches at local restaurants with typical cuisine.

 

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoon: cooking classes from 15.00 to 18.00, introduced by Italian vocabulary that appears in menus, recipes and culinary activities. Exploration of the art of Italian cuisine with a chef / teacher and an interpreter, and with a full tasting menu from Emilia Romagna, paired with wines.

Program: Monday introduction to the course and preparation of appetizers (Parmesan cheese with balsamic vinegar; tigelle (small round bread), fried gnocchi with platter of cured meats and more); Tuesday prepare first course dishes (pasta sfoglia (puff pastry), ragù (meat sauce), lasagna, tortellini, green ravioli); Wednesday prepare second course dishes (bollito di manzo e gallina (boiled beef and chicken), zampone (trotter), polpettone (meatloaf), sauces for the bollito); Thursday prepare desserts (zuppa inglese, ciambella (Italian doughnut), amaretti). Tastings.

At the end of the course you will receive a Certificate for Italian cuisine. Dinners with traditional menu at the restaurant La Secchia Rapita.

 

Friday (full day): beginning at 8:30, guided tour to discover traditional foods and wines, and natural attractions of the territory: caseificio (cheese factory),  salumificio (cured pork meat factories),  cantina/acetaia (wineries/vinegar factories). Tasting of local products and lunch in an agriturismo. Afternoon shopping at the Fidenza Village. Emilian cuisine dinner with a chef of the Federazione Italiana Cuochi. Receipt of the Certificate of Italian Language, the Certificate of Italian Cuisine and the Fidelity Card for access to online courses and services on the site www.bestitaly.club.

 

Saturday: departure with private transport to the airport or train station for another destination.

 

N.B: The cost of the entire program for not more than 8 people, includes: private local transport, accommodation, Italian lessons, cooking workshop/course, interpreter, tourist guide, tastings, lunches, dinners, and entry into the Enzo Ferrari Museum. Extra drinks and expenses are excluded.
